BIO

Caspar Auwerkerken is a Belgian singer-songwriter who creates a lasting impact with the most minimal means.

His music is understated yet layered, rooted in the traditions of folk and indie, while infused with an existential perspective on the world. Auwerkerken’s voice is clear, carrying a fragility reminiscent of Tamino and Thom Yorke. With sparse instrumentation, he builds a universe where every sound matters. Silence is given as much weight as melody.

Thematically, he draws inspiration from philosophy, art, and nature. His lyrics reflect on the relationship between humans and their environment, on alienation in an increasingly materialistic world. Climate change lingers as a recurring theme, alongside time, loss, and connection. His outlook is melancholic but never cynical—always searching for meaning in what seems intangible.

Musically, Auwerkerken is influenced by artists such as Aldous Harding, José González, and Beirut. Not just in sound, but in approach: seeking truth through simplicity. A distinct voice in an overcrowded landscape, where emotional depth takes center stage rather than being drowned out.

In recent years, Caspar Auwerkerken has become a key figure in the new generation of Belgian artists. His music has been warmly embraced by Duyster (Radio 1) and Vuurland (Studio Brussel), and praised by leading music media. On stage too, he leaves an impression, having supported acts including Strand of Oaks, Portland, Meskerem Mees, and The Bony King of Nowhere.
